Success in Goal Achievement
Many people seem to be successful in all they do, while others flounder along in the rear. People become successful because they have set goals and taken the necessary action steps to achieve them.
Here are five strategies on making goal planning successful.
Start with a long-term goal and write it down, taking into account when you are going to achieve that goal and why it is important. What are the rewards on achieving the goal and what are the consequences of not achieving the goal. Try and be as visual as possible, explain how the achievement of the goal will change your life for the better. Once this long-term goal is documented, break it down into tangible steps that need to be taken to achieve the goal.
- Make certain that you really want the goal. Ask yourself, “Do I really want this goal? Will it become one of my highest priorities?” Answering these questions will give you the motivation needed to achieve the goal.
- Speak up. You should not keep this goal to yourself. If it’s a business goal, share it continuously with you staff and colleagues. Make them part of the planning. If it’s a personal goal, share it with family and friends. Their support may be helpful in the goals achievement.
- Write down you goals and develop action plans for each goal. Action plans include the steps needed to complete the goal and the due dates for to completion of each step. Setting a completion date for each step is critical and at times difficult. Setting due dates provides motivation but live sometimes get it the way. Don’t change the plan. Modify the due dates.
Discipline yourself to stick to what you have written. Don’t just write them down and tuck them away in a “safe” place. Keep them were you can see them and review them regularly.
- Stay on track and don’t give up. Along the way you are going to face obstacles which might cause you to quit. Remember back to when you originally set the goal and how you believed it would will provide a better life.
Don’t just let the world hit you in the face. Map you own future based on your own resources skills and hopes. Success come to them who vision and plan their future.
